On Tuesday, Facebook will be holding a press conference for what many believe will be the announcement of the “Facebook Phone”. With all this speculation, one can create any buzz around a potential release and expect a jump in company stock prices, or is that just me speculating now? So what’s Facebook up to?

TechCrunch has been sort of reporting about this but all they can say is that Facebook has been denying any and all things mobile. In the recent article by TechCrunch columnist MG Siegler, he wrote:
“I know, I know. The Facebook Phone is so often rumored that it’s reaching “Apple Tablet” or “Apple Phone” levels at this point. And while those devices did eventually manifest themselves, the Facebook Phone not only has not, but it has been directly denied by everyone at Facebook — including Mark Zuckerberg himself — several times.”
So why are so many people hinting at a phone release by Facebook? Would Facebook really have a secret lair somewhere in the rockies where they’ve been building a new phone, or OS? We’ll leave this one to Tuesday.
Do we really need another phone on the market? How would this one be different than the rest? Or are we about to see the number of mobile brands jump over the next ten years to rival the number of car brands out there?
For me to change from my iPhone, it has to be extremely good. Also, it will be difficult for them all the amazing phones out there like iphone, galaxy and lumina.
If the new Facebook phone has better OS features and apps which might keep people entertained and a long term revenue generation model in place then it might succeed.
After IPO, financial and Valuation analysts have been suggesting FB’s shares overpriced and so pushing it to find ways different revenue models.Developing a new OS or a phone can be a move to achieve that.
I dont know if I would buy a Facebook phone. I already love my iPhone and probably won’t change.
I’m not sure I would either. And I think for people to buy it, it needs to be WOW! Can they really overdo iPhone, Galaxy and the new Lumina?? I doubt it!
